Originally advertising in 1876 as an “Undertaker providing a Hearse” the business has been through many positive changes over the years, and in 2013 co-branded with Simplicity Funerals.
Today, Jamie Harvey, who has over 10 years experience in New Zealand funeral service, leads our team of qualified and experienced funeral directors. We pride ourselves on the very high level of service we provide and as funeral directors, we can come to you or, you can come to our funeral home which can make organising a funeral just that little bit easier.
Our team can give advice on all aspects of funerals and can also guide you through pre-planning funeral options – just ask us. Whatever your needs, we will look after you with care and compassion so you don’t have to worry about a thing.

Jamie Harvey – Manager & Funeral Director
Jamie came into the funeral industry in 2011 following 2 family members passing away. Jamie has also worked in Nelson and Oamaru as a funeral director and in management roles. Jamie is passionate about providing excellent support, guidance and care for loved ones, as families try to navigate their own grief journey. Providing outstanding care and support and listening to our families to provide a level of service that goes above and beyond their expectations is what we all do naturally here at Simplicity Funerals.
Jamie and his husband Karl, originally from Christchurch and having lived and worked in other parts of the South Island are glad to be back "home" and enjoy spending time exploring Christchurch and the surrounding areas and spending time with their friends and family.
Nina Andrews – Funeral Director
Nina always wanted to enter the funeral profession and started taking steps to make this happen at a young age and after taking time to raise her family and a move from Tauranga to settle in Christchurch.
Nina entered the profession in 2014 and really relates well to all walks of life especially at the time when guidance is needed, she is here to help families facilitate a sendoff that is uniquely them.
In Nina's spare time she has a real passion and support of dog rescue and animal welfare and spends lots of time fostering and volunteering with local rescues.
Renee Henare – Funeral Director
After living in Australia for 23 years, Renee has recently moved back to New Zealand and chosen Christchurch to be her new home. Outside of work Renee and her husband Leva enjoy catching up with family, watching sports, and are members of The Salvation Army Church in Hornby.
Karyn Couzins – Administrator
Karyn has recently joined our team and has 20+ years of administrative experience. Outside of work she is the mother of 3 boys who keep her very busy with all their sporting activities. Karyn enjoys socialising with friends and family in her spare time.
