McDONALD, William James “Bill”

Bill sadly passed away at Nurse Maude on March 9, 2026, aged 76.

Loved husband of Wendy for 53 years. Loved son of the late William and Catherine McDonald (Perth, Scotland) and loved son-in-law of the late Ray and Shirley Gooch (Dunedin).

Dearly loved father of Grant and Nicola and father-in-law of Trang and Akshay.

Adored grandad and best buddy of Rohaan and Kyah.

Treasured brother and brother-in-law of Linda (deceased) and George, Kathleen and Hamish, and Andrew (Perth, Scotland), Tracey and Allan, Barry and Ngarouru, Robyn and Alan, Ron and Marg, Wayne and the late Lindsay Gooch (NZ).A loved and respected uncle to his many nieces and nephews in Scotland and NZ. A treasured friend to many.

A special thank you to all that assisted with Bill’s care, especially Jenny Schouten of the Cancer Society who has continually supported Wendy and Bill over the last few years.

A memorial service and celebration of Bill’s life will be held at the Richmond Club, 75 London Street, Richmond on Thursday, March 19, at 2.00pm.
